‘Sea Boys’ to vie at Sharjah children filmfest

Iranian feature ‘Sea Boys’ has made its way to the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children & Youth (SIFF) in the UAE.

Iranian feature ‘Sea Boys’ has made way into the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children & Youth (SIFF) in the UAE.

Afshin Hashemi’s film will vie at the official feature films section of the 2022 edition of the event.

The film is about two boys, one from the north of the country and the other from the south. The northern one has lost his father, while the southern has lost his mother.

‘Sea Boys’ is a social drama that takes place in south of Iran; a melodrama starring teenage actors of the south along with prominent actors in cinema and television.

The flick has been already screened in a number of global film events, including the “Love is Folly” International Film Festival in Bulgaria, the 35th Cinekid Screening Club in the Netherlands, the 20th Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh, the 19th Chennai International Film Festival in India, the 44th Moscow International Film Festival in Russia and the 2021 Shanghai International Film Festival.

‘Sea Boys’ is also the recipient of three awards at the 34th International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Iran.

The SIFF was launched in 2013. It is the first children & youth film festival in the UAE. It is a project of FUNN, an organization established by the Sharjah government.

The festival is dedicated to enhance the media literacy of children and youth, foster children’s & youth’s creativity and showcase the very best in filmmaking for, by and about children and young people.

The 9th edition of the festival is slated for October 10-15, 2022.
